Volunteers: Submit Media Files to Earth Chronicle!

We are always seeking submissions of all kinds to add to our public domain collection. Any images or photographs that you've taken would be welcome. Are you an audio master or a video editing whiz? Consider making a submission. Not only are we looking for people interested to add their work to our public domain collection, but we'd love master video editors, talented audiophiles, and Photoshop / GIMP ninjas who can assist with editing other submissions into looking their best, or creating new works of art. Text is a wonderful and flexible medium, but if you have rich file formats that you would like to submit, or editing talents you'd like to share, we'd love to display them to the world!

Audio Clips

Earth Chronicle is a rich text resource. We collect articles on all manner of topics. And there are many cases where this is the only way that certain information can be conveyed. Philosophy is an intangible study of ideas; while diagrams may be helpful, there are ways in which text is the only way that philosophy can be accurately conveyed. Sociological discussion of inter-family dynamics in a community is a complicated topic but one which text is almost uniquely suited for. However, there are many tasks for which it is uniquely unsuited. Music is an incredibly fundamental part of the human experience, audio loops and songs in *.mp3 or other popular formats are adept at communicating this truth in ways that text is wholly incapable.

Do you have mp3s or loops of your own songs? Do you have a library of bird songs? Recorded a series of lectures for your students? Submit them to Earth Chronicle where you can enjoy them with everyone else too! Image Files

Sometimes the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words" seems like a conservative estimate. A great image can change the way you think about things. It can have an emotional impact in ways that are very difficult to imitate in text. National Geographic in particular has turned eye-popping pictures of nature, people, and amazing places into a routine miracle. If you have great photos, we'd love it if you share them: nature photography, pictures of important historical locations like Rome, Baghdad, Beijing, etc., and snapshots of amazing monuments. We're happy to accept portrait photography as well, however, in this case we need consent from both the owner and the subject of the image before we can post it as a public domain image. Alternatively, if you're a graphic artist or web designer consider submitting high-resolution images of your work or even source files (like psds, xcfs, etc.). Photography is a fantastic art form, but digital image authoring, or even images of artwork in traditional media also make welcome additions to our collection.

Video Clips

Try teaching English, Chinese, or Mayan language pronunciation. Audio is sometimes barely suitable; sometimes you need to watch a person's mouth shaping the words. Try teaching sporting techniques in an essay; while you can get across important tips, there are many intangibles that are communicated far more effectively by video.

Do you have a set of instructional videos that you've created? An amazing video from someplace that few people get so see, or an event that everyone is talking about? An amazing animation created in Flash or Blender or source files you want to share? Or maybe you're a talented actor / director looking for a great place to get publicity for your video production? Image and Multimedia Editing

Many people have image, sound, or video editing software. However, many don't. A number of the submissions we receive need some help to be their best. Moreover, not everyone's skill is equal. Are you a master editor in your field? We'd love your assistance to prepare our rich media files to make sure they're ready for publishing. The quality of our articles is a matter of great pride for Earth Chronicle, and we need your help to make sure our images, audio, video, and other types of media are up to scratch.

Or maybe you have created interesting and / or informative project files. Maybe you've even put together a full descriptive tutorial. We'd love to host your tutorials and source files that show everyone how you do what you do best. Whether you're volunteering your editing expertise or sharing a special artistic project, we'd love to hear from you.
